'Seflish' CR7 slammed after Juve defeat

UEFA Champions League

Cristiano Ronaldo has been branded as "selfish" following Juventus' surprise UEFA Champions League defeat to FC Porto on Wednesday.

Ronaldo was unable to add to his record-134 goals in the Champions League on Wednesday as the Bianconeri stumbled to a surprise 2-1 defeat to Porto at the Estadio Dragao.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner cast a frustrated figure throughout the encounter and found himself at the centre of strong criticism from former Italy international Antonio Cassano following the match.

"He scores one goal per game, but it is hard for him to understand [Andrea] Pirlo's idea of football," Cassano said on Bobo TV h/t AS, as translated. "He has always been a bit selfish. He doesn't give a damn if others score, he is a player who lives to score.

"He does not live for the game, he lives for the goal and that makes, at this moment, the situation worse. Years go by for everyone and this puts them in difficulties."

While the Portugal star fired blank on the night, Juventus did score an all-important away goal through Federico Chiesa which could prove to be vital when the two sides meet for the return leg on 9 March.
