Juve keep top four hopes alive

Serie A

Inter Milan 3-1 AS Roma

Newly crowned Serie A champions Inter Milan defeated Roma 3-1 at San Siro on Wednesday evening.

Marcelo Brozovic and Mattio Vecino gave Inter an early 2-0 lead before Henrik Mkhitaryan pulled a goal back for Roma on the half-hour mark. It took a while before Romelu Lukaku put the game to bed in the 90th minute.

The Giallorossi are in seventh position and are highly unlikely to make it into the top six after this latest defeat.

Sassuolo 1-3 Juventus

Juventus kept the pressure up on their top-four rivals with a 3-1 victory away at Sassuolo.

Adrien Rabiot, Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybalafound the back of net for Juve, while Giacomo Raspadori scored for the hosts in the 59th minute.

Andrea Pirlo's men remain in fourth spot, one point behind fourth-placed Napoli.

Atalanta 2-0 Benevento

Atalanta moved back into second position on the Serie A standings with a 2-0 win over 10-man Benevento.

Luis Muriel opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before Mario Pasalic doubled the lead in the 67th minute. Luca Caldirola was then sent off in the 82nd minute as the visitors were reduced to ten men for the final ten minutes.

Atalanta are in second but level on points with AC Milan, two points ahead of Napoli and three ahead of Juventus. Benevento's hopes of avoiding relegation, meanwhile, suffered another blow as they are four points adrift of 17th-placed Spezia.
