Juve back on the winning trail

Serie A

Spezia 1-1 Inter Milan

Inter Milan registered back-to-back draws in Serie A following a 1-1 stalemate against Spezia on Wednesday evening.

A single change from the Nerazzurri following their 1-1 draw against Napoli on Sunday showed with Ivan Perisic installed in favour of Matteo Darmian.

Spezia stunned the league leaders with a 12th minute lead through a low powerful rasping shot from Diego Farias, which give goalkeeper Samir Handanovic absolutely no chance.

The Nerazzurri hit back just within the latter stages before the end of the first half courtesy of a close-range finish from Perisic after the host failed to clear their lines.

Inter came close to the winner late on, but goals from Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez was called offside as it finished 1-1 leaving the visitors on top of the table.

Juventus 3-1 Parma

Juventus recorded a 3-1 victory over Parma in Serie A on Wednesday evening to return to winning ways.

Veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, Leonardo Bonucci, Arthur Melo and Cristiano Ronaldo entered from Sunday’s narrow defeat at the hands of Atalanta.

Parma drew first blood from a well-drilled free-kick on 25 minutes by Gaston Brugman following a foul by Weston McKennie outside the edge of the six-yard area.

The Bianconeri pulled level right before the break through a smashing finish on the volley from Alex Sandro after a deft touch from a cutback by Matthijs De Ligt.

Juventus were fired up as the second half resumed and in so doing grabbed the front-foot courtesy of a free header by Sandro who in-turn completed his brace.

The final nail in Parma’s coffin came soon before fulltime through a thumping header from De Ligt off a corner-kick from Colombian Juan Cuadrado.

The victory guides the host from fourth to third spot on the league standings, with an outside chance to the title as well.
