Inter Milan 2-1 Sassuolo
Inter Milan managed to claim a tenth straight Serie A victory to open up an eleven point lead at the top of the table following a 2-1 win over Sassuolo on Wednesday evening.
Following Saturday’s slender win at Bologna, the Nerazzurri entered the match keen to preserve their fine run of form and took the lead through Romelu Lukaku early in the first half.
The match was put to bed following the midway quarter of the second half through a calm and composed finish from Lautaro Martinez, with the consolation from Junior Traore.
Up next for the champions-elect is a tricky encounter at home to Cagliari on Sunday, while Sassuolo head to Benevento.
Juventus 2-1 Napoli
Juventus resumed winning ways in Serie A after recording a 2-1 victory over Napoli at the Allianz Arena in the night’s other clash.
Juve hadn’t won in their last two league matches with defeat to Benevento followed Saturday’s draw to Torino in the Turin derby.
Cristiano Ronaldo got the Bianconeri up running with his 25th strike of the season before Paulo Dybala added their second late in the second half.
Napoli threatened a draw deep in added time after Lorenzo Insigne converted a penalty, but it was too little too late.
