Zlatan's Milan reclaim top spot in Italy

Napoli 1-3 AC Milan

A brace from Zlatan Ibrahimovic steered AC Milan to a 3-1 win over a ten-man Napoli and back to the of the table in Serie A on an action packed Sunday.

The evergreen Ibrahimovic netted early in the first half and completed his double after the interval, with Dries Mertens giving the hosts a consolation.

Tiemoue Bakayoko was sent to the dressing room midway in the second half following a second bookable offence, as Jens Petter Hauge put the icing on the cake deep in stoppage time.

Inter Milan 4-2 Torino

Inter Milan engineered a late surge to see off Torino 4-2 at home, with a brace from in-form striker Romelu Lukaku.

Torino stunned the hosts through Simone Zaza late in the first half before a penalty from Cristian Ansaldi, formerly of Inter, doubled their lead early in the second half.

Alexis Sanchez launched Inter’s comeback before Lukaku netted the equaliser and completed his brace from the spot with Lautaro Martinez rounding up the result right at the end.

AS Roma 3-0 Parma

AS Roma’ s winning run of form in the league continued with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Parma to maintain their title push.

All the goals came in the first half through Borja Mayoral followed by a double towards halftime by Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The victory leaves Paulo Fonseca’s side in third spot, three points from the current pace-setters AC Milan and a point adrift second-place Sassuolo.

Sampdoria 1-2 Bologna

Sampdoria missed the chance to close in on the top-half following a 2-1 loss at home to Bologna in a mid-table clash.

Morten Thorsby handed the side from Genoa the lead early on, but it was cancelled out by Vasco Regini’s own-goal late in the first half before Riccardo Orsolini netted the winner in the second half.

Fiorentina 0-1 Benevento

Fiorentina succumbed to a shock 1-0 defeat against new boys Benevento, handing new man Cesare Prandelli a tough start to life in the hot seat.

Forward Riccardo Improta came up with the all-important winner minutes into the second half following a goalless opening spell.

Udinese 1-0 Genoa

Udinese jumped from the bottom-three spots in the league thanks to a narrow 1-0 win over Genoa in a relegation six-pointer.

Genoa, with just one win in eight matches, succumbed to Rodrigo De Paul’s first half strike to stretch their winless run to seven matches in the league.

The visitors had goalkeeper Mattia Perin, on-loan from the champions Juventus, dismissed in the final minute of the match.

Hellas Verona 0-2 Sassuolo

Sassuolo continued their unbeaten start to the season following a 2-0 victory over Hellas Verona to maintain second spot on the table.

Goals in either half from Jeremie Boga and Domenico Berardi handed Roberto De Zerbi’s side a comfortable win away from home.
