Serie A: Milan drop points at Parma

Serie A

AC Milan missed the chance to cement fourth after dropping points away to Parma in Saturday afternoon's Serie A encounters.

Parma 1-1 AC Milan

AC Milan failed to solidify fourth spot with a 1-1 draw away to mid-table Serie A side Parma in the early kickoff.

Milan struggled to get going and went to the break goalless. Thus, Samu Castillejo was needed off the bench to open their account on 69 minutes.

While victory looked certain, Bruno Alves broke their hearts with a majestic free-kick to deny Gennaro Gattuso the chance to cut the gap on third-place Inter Milan.

Lazio 1-2 Chievo Verona

Relegated Chievo surprised a nine-man Lazio with a 2-1 victory at the Stadio Olimpico, leaving the hosts top-four hopes by a threat.

Emanuel Vignato and Perparim Hetemaj gave the demoted side only their second victory of the season despite the best efforts of Felipe Caicedo.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto were both sent off for the host late on in the encounter.

Udinese 1-1 Sassuolo

Udinese and Sassuolo played to a 1-1 draw at the Dacia Arena in Udine.

Stefano Sensi put the visitors in front on 31 minutes, and while a victory looked certain Pol Lirola struck the equaliser 10 minutes to full-time.

Cagliari 1-0 Frosinone

A 10-man Cagliari side added more misery to Frosinone relegation woes with a 1-0 win at the Sardegna Arena.

A 27th minute penalty from Joao Pedro proved to be the difference maker between the sides, with Paolo Farago dismissed on 79 minutes.

Empoli 2-4 SPAL

SPAL continued their climb up the standings with a 4-2 triumph over Empoli at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.

A double from star striker Andrea Petagna followed by Sergio Floccari and Marko Antenucci handed the visitors their biggest win of the season.

Efforts from Francesco Caputo and Hared Traore in either side of the half proved mere consolation for the floundering hosts.

Genoa 0-1 Torino

Torino’s push for European slot strengthened with a slender 1-0 win over Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferrari.

The Turin outfit remain are now level on points with sixth-place Atalanta who play later on Sunday.

Bologna 3-0 Sampdoria

Bologna continued to boost their survival hopes with a 3-0 win over Sampdoria at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

All the goals came in the second half through an own-goal from Lorenzo Tonelli, Erick Pulgar and Riccardo Orsolini.
