'Suarez will thrive next to Ronaldo'

Luis Suarez has Juventus DNA and will thrive next to Cristiano Ronaldo next season, according to former FC Barcelone director Ariedo Braida.

Suarez, 33, is poised to leave Barcelona after six years as new head coach Ronald Koeman informed him that he no longer forms part of the club's first-team plans.

And the prolific forward who enjoyed a telepathic partnership with Lionel Messi since his €82.3-million arrival from Liverpool in July 2014 but is now set to team up with his long-standing rival, Ronaldo, in Serie A.

The Uruguay legend has reportedly agreed personal terms to join Andrea Pirlo's side which Braida suggests is a match made in heaven.

"I'm not surprised about his Barcelona exit because football is about cycles," the former AC Milan General Manager told TuttoSport.

"Even Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid because he felt his time there was over. Suarez is a fighter and his battling spirit infects the rest of his teams. He has character and the DNA to play for Juventus and other big clubs.

"If he is motivated, he'll be a strong signing even at 33 years of age. He won't have problems playing with Ronaldo. They'll understand each other perfectly because they're two natural winners."

Suarez scored 198 goals in 283 appearances across all competitions over his six glittering seasons at Camp Nou.
