Silva slammed after transfer u-turn

Serie A

David Silva has come under a scathing attack after he snubbed Lazio at the last minute for a return to Spain with Real Sociedad.

The 34-year-old flirted with the idea with a move to Serie A in recent weeks before agreeing to join Lazio ahead of the new season - whilst his father suggested in the media that he could star for the next six seasons in Italy.

However, in a surprising turn of events on Monday evening, Silva was announced as Real Sociedad's latest signing after his decade of success at Manchester City.

And in an official statement released by the Italian club, director Igli Tare could not hide his anger after his snub after weeks of negotiating.

"I learn about David Silva's transfer to Real Sociedad. I have great respect for the player, but not for the man," Tare said in an abrupt statement shortly after the news crashed the Spanish side's website.

Silva will the number 21 shirt at La Real next season and will compete in the UEFA Europa League after the Basque outfit finished sixth in the 2019/20 LaLiga campaign.
