Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has touched on the subject of a record-sixth Ballon d'Or after the Nations League triumph took his overall tally to three titles for club and country this season.
Ronaldo on Ballon d'Or chances
Ronaldo, 34, has earned plaudits for maintaining his usual standards over the 2018/19 season despite his advancing age and after lifting a second international title with Portugal he opened up about his exploits over his career.
"There hasn't been a period where I've played badly, the numbers speak for themselves over the last 16 years," he said, as per Marca. "I've shown for the majority of my career, independently of what people say, the numbers speak for themselves."
While he admits he's driven by silverware, the Serie A Player of the Year stopped short of claiming it's an obessesion of his.
"It all helps, collective and individual trophies, but I'm not obsessed by trophies," he said. "Obviously I like them, I'm not going to lie."
He added on the 2019 Ballon d'Or prospects; "I've won three trophies, I've played well, what more could I do?
"Do I deserve it? I don't know, I'm going to leave that with you. You are the ones that have to judge, I'm not going to assess myself."
