Portugal-based defender Thibang Phete had a night to forget on Wednesday after his 92nd-minute own goal consigned Belenenses to defeat in the Primeira Liga.

Belenenses' six-match unbeaten run in Portugal's top flight was ended on Wednesday evening after the club suffered a 2-1 away defeat at the hands of Pacos de Ferreira.

Tiago Esgaio had given the Lisbon-based side the lead in the sixth minute of the match with a wonderful effort from range before Douglas Tanque netted Pacos' equaliser from the penalty spot early in the second half.

With the two sides having cancelled each other out, the encounter looked to be heading for a draw until the 92nd minute when Phete inadvertently turned a cross into his own net to gift the three hosts all three points on the night.

The result was Belenenses' first league loss with the 26-year-old in the starting line-up and only their second loss overall since the Kimberley-born defender's arrival in January on loan from Famalicao.
