Ex-Pirates midfielder unveiled in Europe

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Tercious Malepe has been unveiled by Ukrainian outfit FC Minaj, and could make his debut for the club on Saturday.

On Friday, Ukrainian Premier Liga side FC Minaj officially unveiled Malepe as a new signing just over three weeks after the player was registered with the league following the expiration of his contract with the Buccaneers.

"South African footballer Tercious Repo Malepe is a new player of Minaj. He signed a contract with our club and has already started training with the team," the club announced via its official website on Friday.

"Repo Malepe is a 23-year-old footballer who belonged to the Orlando Pirates Club, the current bronze medallist of the South African championship.

"However, he spent the last two seasons at Chippa United, the 11th team of the current top-flight where he was a consistent player. He has more than 60 matches in the major league of one of the strongest championships in Africa.

"In position, he is a supporting midfielder, but can also play in the centre or on the defensive flank. He has a good experience of performing at the international level. Malepe played at the last Olympics for his team in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. He currently plays for the South African youth team.

The 23-year-old was thrown straight into the squad on Sunday, when he was an unused substitute for Minaj's goalless draw with FC Rukh Vynnyky, and could make his debut this coming weekend against FC Desna Chernihiv.
