After George Lebese was controversially denied his first goal for Colorado Springs Switchbacks over the weekend, the club has now hit back at the match officials on social media.

On Saturday evening, the Switchbacks suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to New Mexico United in their first competitive match since the league was temporarily suspended in March.

However, the encounter was shrouded in controversy after former Kaizer Chiefs star George Lebese saw his goal chalked off for offside with the scores locked at 1-1, despite replays clearly indicating otherwise.

The Switchbacks have since aimed a not-so-subtle dig at the standard of officiating on the night, posting a hilarious video of the incident across their social media platforms.

"Some say a robbery was committed last night at Weidner Field. Do you have what it takes to crack the case?" the post read.

Lebese joined the USL Championship side in December last year and has now started in each of the team's two matches this season. Both player and club are expected to be in action again on Saturday, 18 July, when they take on Real Monarchs.
