Former Bafana Bafana defender Ricardo Nunes registered his first goal of the season during Pogon Szczecin's 2-1 Ekstraklasa defeat to Cracovia on Monday night.

Nunes, who made his 150th appearance for Pogon earlier in the month, found the back of the net for the first time since April 2018 when he struck home a late consolation goal for his side.

Cracovia had earlier taken the lead through an own goal by Austrian defender Benedikt Zech before Pogon goalkeeper Dante Stipica compounded his side's woes by carrying Pelle van Amersfoort's headed effort over his own line.

The result leaves Pogon in eighth place in the championship round of the Ekstraklasa, eight points shy of a spot in the first qualifying round for next season's UEFA Europa League.

Nunes, who won five international caps between 2012 and 2013, was not the only South African player in action on Monday night, with Luke Le Roux and Keanin Ayer both featuring in Varberg's 3-1 win over Falkenberg in Sweden.

Amajita forward Luther Singh also featured from the bench for Moreirense in Portugal, while Metta's Kgotso Masangane bagged an assist in the 4-2 defeat against Daugavpils in the Latvian Vrsliga.
