With Bongani Zungu inching closer to a move to Scottish giants Rangers, new reports have emerged claiming the Bafana Bafana star rejected an approach from a LaLiga club.
According to French publication L'Equipe, Zungu is nearing a move to Scotland after Amiens reportedly accepted Rangers' €4 million (R77 million) offer for his services, with contractual negotiations the only issue outstanding.
A separate report from Record Sport claims that the former Mamelodi Sundowns star rejected an approach from LaLiga side Celta Vigo and fellow Ligue 1 side Strasbourg after setting his heart on playing under Rangers boss Steven Gerrard.
It is claimed further that Zungu could join up with the Scottish outfit as early as Wednesday afternoon, when he would become the club's fifth signing of the season, and is expected to sign a four-year deal.
Rangers have already signed Ianis Hagi, Calvin Bassey, Jon McLaughlin and Leon Balogun ahead of their 2020/21 Scottish Premiership campaign, which kicks off this weekend with a clash against Aberdeen.
