Big milestone for ex-Bafana star

SA Players Abroad

Former Bafana Bafana defender Ricardo Nunes achieved a special milestone with Pogon Szczecin this past weekend, and the 34-year-old is now closing in on a new club record.

Nunes was unable to prevent Pogon from slumping to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Lechia Gdansk on Sunday afternoon, but walked away with the consolation of having made his 150th appearance for the club.

The Johannesburg-born defender, who joined the Polish outfit in 2014, is only the sixth player to have achieved the milestone, and is now just six matches away from breaking into the top five on the club's all-time appearances list.

Nunes is also now just 12 games away from joining midfielder Takafumi Akahoshi as the foreign player with the most appearances for Pogon, although he may not achieve that record as his contract is believed to be expiring at the end of the month.
