A major decision by the English Football League has handed Bafana Bafana star Kamohelo Mokotjo a huge boost in his hopes of securing promotion to the Premier League.

On Thursday, the EFL confirmed that clubs across the Championship, League One and League Two will still be promoted and relegated this season, regardless of whether or not the 2019/20 campaign is able to resume amid the coronavirus crisis.

According to the BBC, if the season cannot be completed on the pitch, log tables across the respective leagues will be decided by an unweighted points-per-game system, with play-off matches to still to take place thereafter.

The decision has major ramifications for Mokotjo and Brentford, who currently occupy fourth place in the Championship and on the league's current points-per-game standings.

If the Championship season was brought to a premature end (there are currently nine matches left to be played, plus play-offs), Brentford would qualify for the promotion play-offs alongside Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Preston North End.

The EFL has also confirmed that it would require agreement from 51% of the clubs in each respective league before seasons could be abandoned.
