South African starlet Gift Links delivered a Man of the Match performance on Wednesday to help AGF Aarhus secure a spot in next season's UEFA Europa League qualifiers.
With AGF having already achieved their best finish to a Danish Superliga campaign since 1997, the club secured its spot in next season's UEFA Europa League qualifiers with a 2-1 win over Odense Boldklub in their European play-off on Wednesday.
Links, who had started only one of his 14 league appearances for the club prior to the match, was handed a rare opportunity in the run-on XI and delivered in style with his second Man of the Match performance of the season.
The former Cape Town City starlet spent an hour on the pitch before being replaced by former Fulham academy player Jon Thorsteinsson, and posed a constant threat down the wing with his pace and technique.
Following the match, DR1TV journalist Kenneth Djoeneri lavished praise on the 21-year-old, whom he described as one of the revelations for the season.
"Gift Links is, for me, the revelation of spring (and perhaps the season). He has taken quantum leaps in his development both physically and with the ball. And then he's just likeable. One hopes that he succeeds in everything he undertakes," Djoeneri wrote on Twitter.
