Following the return of football in the United States, George Lebese made his long-awaited return to action last night but it was a frustrating outing for the former Kaizer Chiefs star.
On Saturday evening, Colorado Springs Switchbacks returned to the pitch for the first time since March when the league was suspended due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lebese made his second consecutive start for the club, who are coached by fellow South African Alan Koch, but was unable to prevent his side succumbing to a narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of New Mexico United.
It was not for a lack of trying, however, as the 31-year-old had found the back of the net with the scores locked at 1-1, only to see the goal controversially chalked off for offside by the assistant referee.

The result was the former Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns forward's first competitive defeat for the Switchbacks, after he previously starred on debut in the club's opening day victory against OKC Energy.
