George Lebese looks to have returned to his best form after opening his goalscoring account for the season in the United States, earning himself a Man of the Match award in the process.
In the early hours of Sunday morning, Lebese's Colorado Springs Switchbacks side played out a 2-1 defeat to Real Monarchs in the USL Championship, with the Monarchs claiming the winning goal in the third minute of injury time.
Despite the disappointment of the result, it was an encouraging outing for the former Kaizer Chiefs star who opened his account for the campaign with a well-taken penalty in the 57th minute of the match.
Lebese, whose strike cancelled out Jack Blake's opening goal from the opposite penalty spot, was controversially denied his first goal earlier in the season when he was incorrectly judged to have been offside in Switchbacks' 2-1 defeat to New Mexico United.
The 31-year-old was not to be denied this time around, however, and walked away with the Man of the Match award for his performance, despite being on the losing side of proceedings at the Weidner Field.
Switchbacks have now dropped to third place in Group C of the USLC after Sunday's defeat, six points behind New Mexico who have played a game extra, and will next be in action on 9 August when they take on El Paso Locomotive in Texas.
