Rangers head coach Steven Gerrard has dropped a huge hint over the imminent arrival of Bongani Zungu at Ibrox.

Zungu, 27, has reportedly agreed terms with the Scottish Premier League giants after rejecting the advances of RC Strasbourg and LaLiga outfit Celta Vigo after Amiens' relegation from Ligue 1.

While Gerrard's assistant Gary McAllister recently acknowledged their interest in the South Africa international, Gerrard has remained coy but pleaded with the club's hierarchy to bolster the squad ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Ahead of Rangers' season-opener against Aberdeen, the former Liverpool captain revealed that he wouldn't be surprised if a few new faces arrived soon.

"I think it's going to be a unique window in terms of ins and outs because obviously some teams have only recently finished, some leagues are still playing, some players are on holiday," he said.

"I think we will have to patient, we are close and I wouldn't be surprised if there's new Rangers players in the coming days."
