Ahly opponents deny 'throwing game'

Egyptian Premier League side Arab Contractors have vehemently denied throwing their match against Al Ahly last week after surrendering a two-goal lead against the Club of the Century.

Emad El-Nahas' side suffered a 3-2 defeat to Pitso Mosimane's Ahly last Thursday after second-half goals from Taher Mohamed, Mohamed Sherif and Afsha cancelled out Arab Contractors' two-goal lead from the first half.

The nature of the defeat led to unsupported allegations of misconduct against El-Nahas, who was accused of having received a phone call at half-time to throw the match in their opponents' favour.

The club's football supervisor Mohamed Adel has since emphatically denied all allegations levelled against the manager.

"Whoever claims that Emad El-Nahas had received a phone call at half-time is the one who could do that, not us," Adel told KingFut.

"Shame to whoever started that rumour. Since when and Al Ahly get two goals down at half-time [sic.]? Did El-Nahas order the players to miss-pass the ball in order to let Al Ahly win? Whoever claims that has lost their mind.

"Emad El-Nahas is the one who led the team to the African competitions for the first time in 15 years and he still has the desire to repeat that."
