Mecurial winger Achraf Bencharki was the hero with a brace while forward Youssef Ibrahim also found the net against Sebastian Desabare's disciplined outfit.
Having joined the White Knights from the Buccaneers less than a month ago, the Serbian tactician claims their triumph proves his squad are capable of 'achieving more' as he looks to continue his work with the five-time African champions.
"I am very happy with this win,” Micho told Egypt national broacaster ON Sport. "It was a difficult test against a tough opponent who produced a strong performance
"The win confirmed that we are on the right track after three weeks of work."
Zamalek will now face off in a massive clash against Al Ahly in a heated Cairo Derby for the Egyptian Super Cup title on 20 September.
