Percy Tau has been lauded for his simplicity and humility outside the field of play by former Union Saint Gilloise teammate Thibault Peyre.
After winning the Absa Premiership Player of the Season award in 2018, Tau earned a lucrative switch to Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion - where he signed a four-year contract worth a reported £30 000-a-week (R560 000).
But after failing to acquire a work-permit to represent the club in the English top-flight, the South African forward has embarked on two separate loan spells in Belgium - where he's developed into a star performer.
Having reached the heights of the UEFA Champions League with Club Brugge this season, Peyre, who spent seven months with him at RSUG in the second-tier revealed how down to earth the former Mamelodi Sundowns star was.
"Percy is a simple person", Peyre told SoFoot. "His rhythm is – football, home, football, eat, sleep.
"He was very discreet and lived alone, but we discovered a great teammate in him. A guy of rare humility.
"He was paid six or seven times our salary, but he came into the dressing room as one of us."
Since leaving Masandawana, Tau has scored 16 goals and registered 18 assists in 49 games in all competitions for RSUG and Brugge respectively.
