AC Milan has expressed interest in signing South African forward Leo Thethani ahead of the 2020/21 Serie A campaign.
With the Eredivisie season cancelled last week, AFC Ajax lost the chance to win the 2019/20 title, having been league leaders before the coronavirus pandemic suspended football in the Netherlands.
The Dutch giants have acted swiftly with plans for next season, with club legend Klaas Jan Huntelaar already having his contract terminated before it was due to expire at the end of June.
Meanwhile, Thethani and compatriot Dean Solomons, whose contracts are also due to expire in the coming months, are poised for moves elsewhere in Europe.
Jerome McCarthy, the agent of the Ajax Cape Town academy graduates, has now opened up about the options ahead for the Amajita duo.
"Currently with Leo, Milan is interested in him and with Dean, Grasshoppers are keen," McCarthy tells KickOff.com.
"But those moves are both on the back-burners now because of the coronavirus, they can't even leave the country.
"With Dean, they're not renewing his contract at Ajax and with Leo, there is a possibility still.
"Both clubs are very interested in Dean and Leo but they are just waiting on the whole outcome of the pandemic."
Thethani and Solomons joined the Eredivisie champions in 2017 and featured prominently in the club's academy before their promotion to the Jong Ajax squad in the second tier.
