Bayern Munich have confirmed the exit of playmaker James Rodriguez after a two-year loan deal from Real Madrid.
Rodriguez, 27, was informed he was no longer part of the long-term plans of the Bavarian giants after helping them win two Bundesliga titles and the DFB-Pokal during his time in Munich.
Injuries restricted the Colombia ace to just 20 league appearances this season and the club's CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has since thanked the 2014 FIFA World Cup Golden Ball winner for his efforts.
"I thank James on behalf of FC Bayern Munich for two successful years," Rummenigge told the club’s official website.
"We have twice won the German Championship and the DFB Cup with him. In addition, we reached the semi-finals of the Champions League with him last season.
"James made an important contribution to all these successes. We wish James all the best for his future."
Rodriguez featured 67 times for the Bundesliga champions over the past two years, scoring 15 goals and registering 20 assists.
