One of the stars touted to win this year's Ballon d'Or has given his verdict on his chances of claiming the prestigious award ahead of the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
After winning both the 2020 UEFA European Championship and the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League over the past few months, Italy star Jorginho has seen his name go up as one of the contenders for the 2021 Ballon d'Or award.
The deep-lying playmaker also enjoyed a prolific 2020/21 season, finishing as Chelsea's top goalscorer in the Premier League with seven goals.
The Blues star has now weighed in on murmurs that he should win one of football's greatest individual awards after producing a dominant display at Euro 2020, after which he was named in the Team of the Tournament.
"If we talk about talent, I am aware that I am not the best in the world," Jorginho said, per the Daily Star.
"On the other hand, if you choose based on the titles, well, nobody has won more than me this season.
"How am I going to compare myself to Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, or Neymar? They have completely different characteristics from mine, but I repeat, it depends on the criteria."
Messi is seemingly the favourite to win the award after a dominant display as Argentina claimed the 2021 Copa America title and also finishing as the top goalscorer in the 2020/21 LaLiga season with 30 strikes.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, was the top scorer in the 2020/21 Serie A campaign with 29 goals, and at Euro 2020 with five strikes to his name.
According to Goal, the 2021 Ballon d'Or winner will be announced in December this year.
