Former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Jerome Rothen feels the French giants signing Lionel Messi was a mistake following his display against Manchester City.
Messi came under a bit of criticism after the loss to Pep Guardiola's charges in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday evening.
The Argentine's move has not gone as smooth as some would have suggested, but Rothen feels the decision-makers at PSG did not look at how Messi would affect the overall.
"I think so, more and more, that Messi at PSG is a mistake," Rothen told the enflamme podcast, as per PSG Talk.
"When you take Lionel Messi, you expect a lot of things, individual achievements that have been hard to see since the start of the season.
"He improves his teammates. Then you have to stop telling me that he is still breaking in. You don't have time! We are arriving in December.
"There are not the players to allow Lionel Messi to have a hold on the team. He sets up a false rhythm which does not correspond to the players who are around.
"The Parisian leaders did not realise that you have to have players who go in his direction, in his tempo, who allow him to shine."
