PSG 'set to target' Chelsea star

Ligue 1

Chelsea are seemingly in danger of losing one of their star players, with new reports suggesting that Paris Saint-Germain are targeting a move for Antonio Rudiger.

The German defender, whose current contract expires in June 2022, has become a vital cog for his side since Thomas Tuchel's arrival at Stamford Bridge, earning plaudits for his performances in the Blues' 2020/21 UEFA Champions League-winning campaign.

However, French news outlet Le10Sport has now reported that Les Parisiens, who signed four free agents in the latest transfer window, are now planning to sign another in Rudiger next year.

The 28-year-old has reportedly caught the attention of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Juventus, but PSG are said to be frontrunners in the race to secure his services.

It is further claimed that the defender "won't sign new terms at Stamford Bridge" and could sign a pre-contract with Lionel Messi's team in January.

Chelsea boss Tuchel may thus find himself in a difficult situation after he recently parted ways with a number of centre-backs, and was also unsuccessful in his pursuit of France star Jules Kounde as Sevilla were reportedly unwilling to lower their price tag for the player with deadline day approaching.

Just like Rudiger, defenders Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen are also in the final years of their deals at the Blues, but it remains unknown as to whether they will renew or run their contracts down.
