PSG plan for Pochettino's exit?

Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly decided to make a new managerial appointment for the 2022/23 campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino endured a stuttering start to life in Paris that saw Lille win the 2020/21 Ligue 1 title, but the Argentine has swiftly bounced back with the French giants currently top of the league table with a 13-point gap over second-placed Nice.

Despite the turnaround, the 49-year-old head coach has been criticised for his tactics and team selection, and the latest report from French football journalist Daniel Riolo suggests that the PSG hierarchy have decided on a different plan for next season.

Riolo claims that the club will part ways with Pochettino and hire Zinedine Zidane by June "at the latest".

The former Real Madrid boss has been widely linked with a move to PSG after reports suggested in December that Pochettino would prefer to return to the Premier League.

However, the journalist insists that there are potential stumbling blocks as Zidane is believed to want Mbappe in his team amid concern that he will join Los Blancos at the end of this season.

Furthermore, the 23-year-old could stay in Paris if the appointment takes place, with Mbappe said to have a lot of respect for Zidane.
