PSG announce first 2021/22 signing

Ligue 1

Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed the acquisition of Netherlands midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum from Liverpool.

Wijnaldum will join PSG on a free transfer at the end of the month after signing a three-year deal with the Parisians following the expiration of his contract with Liverpool.

"Joining Paris Saint-Germain is a new challenge for me," the 30-year-old told the club's website. "I join one of the best training courses in Europe and I am keen to be able to bring my desire and my determination to this ambitious project.

"Paris Saint-Germain has proven its status in recent years and I am sure that together, for our supporters, we will be able to go even further and higher."

Wijnaldum made 237 appearances in his five-year spell at Anfield, during which he helped the club win no fewer than four major titles, including the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup.
