Ligue 1

Olympique Marseille 2-1 Olympique Lyon

Olympique Marseille surged up to second spot in Ligue 1 following a 2-1 win over Olympique Lyon at the Stade Velodrome on Sunday.

Dimitri Payet fired the opener from the penalty spot on 18 minutes and added a second six minutes to halftime to give his side a two-goal at the break.

Moussa Dembele responded with a decent finish off an assist by Bertrand Traore in the 59th minute, as the host finished with ten men after Alvaro Gonzalez earned a straight red 64 minutes.

Montpellier 3-0 Toulouse

Montpellier ended a three-match winless with a 3-0 drubbing over Toulouse at the Stade La Mosson on Sunday.

Gaetan Laborde got the home side off the mark with a solid finish three minutes to halftime, while Damien Le Tallec and Teji Savanier completed the rout in the second half.

Montpellier jump to sixth place whilst Toulouse languish in dangerous territory.

Nantes 2-3 St Etienne

A brace from Denis Bouanga helped Saint-Etienne to a 3-2 victory over Nantes at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes.

Nantes raced into the lead through a 14th minute finish from Ludovic Blas before Imran Louza added to their advantage 13 minutes later, after Miguel Trauco levelled five minutes earlier.

It was left to Bouanga who levelled matters for the visitors in the 34th minute before making the points safe 67 minutes on the bounce.

Rennes 3-1 Amiens SC

South Africa’s Bongani Zungu started and could not prevent Amiens from suffering a 3-1 loss to Rennes.

First blood arrived from the visitors ten minutes to the break through a finish from Serhou Guirassy, before Adrien Hunou drew the home side level after 39 minutes.

M’Baye Niang then fired the hosts in front on 62 minutes before Rapiha sealed the win from the spot ten minutes to conclusion.
