Ligue 1: Reims stun PSG, Caen relegated

Paris Saint-Germain ended the season in disappointing fashion, while Caen were relegated to Ligue 2 on the final day of the Ligue 1 season.

Stade Reims 3-1 Paris Saint Germain

PSG’s campaign ended in defeat after suffering a 3-1 meltdown at the hands of Reims at the Stade Auguste-Delaune II.

Reims were in complete control and deserved the win, which came through a 36th minute finish from Baba Rahman, Mathieu Cafaro on 56 minutes and Pablo Chavarria in added time.

Kylian Mbappe provided the consolation for the Parisans, as Reims end the campaign in eight place.

Marseille 1-0 Montpellier

Ten-man Marseille edged Montpellier 1-0 at the Stade Velodrome to finish fifth on the league standings.

Talisman Florian Thauvin provided the all-important winner in the 56th minute, as Mario Balotelli saw red on 87 minutes while Montpellier finish off in sixth place.

Caen 0-1 Bordeaux

Bordeaux missed on a European slot despite seeing off Caen 1-0 at the Stade Michel-d’Ornano through a 19th minute finish from Younousse Sankhare.

Commiserations went to Caen, who will be plying their trade in Ligue 2 next season after finishing second-from-bottom.

Dijon FCO 2-1 Toulouse

After a 4-0 hammering by PSG, Dijon bounced back with a 2-1 win over Toulouse to get another shot at survival through the Promotion/Relegation Play-offs.

Toulouse grabbed the lead on 33 minutes through Bafode Diakite, but Dijon replied after 58 minutes through substitute Naim Sliti and Julio Tavares on 62 minutes.

Stade Rennes 3-1 LOSC Lille

Lille’s eight-match unbeaten run ended with a 3-1 defeat against Rennes at the Stade de la Route de Lorient.

Efforts in either half from M’Baye Niang with one through the spot followed by a 59th minute effort from Ismaila Sarr paved the way for the triumph.

Loic Remy prodded the consolation on 35 minutes, with Luis Araujo seeing red at the death as Rennes end in 10th place.

Amiens 2-1 Guingamp

Guingamp suffered demotion to the second tier following a 2-1 loss to Amiens at the Stade de la Licorne.

Amiens sealed the win through a 14th minute strike from Serhou Guirassy and Saman Ghoddes on 47 minutes, with Alexandre Mendy firing in the consolation on 66 minutes.

Nimes 2-3 Olympique Lyon

Lyon secured third spot with a 3-2 win over Nimes at the Stade des Costieres, with a double from Maxwel Cornet and a late finish from Tanguy Ndombele.

Nimes were on target through Renaud Ripart after 11 minutes and Antonin Bobichon in stoppage time.

Angers 1-1 St Etienne

Etienne’s top-three ambitions evaporated after a 1-1 draw against Angers at the Stade Jean-Bouin in Angers.

Etienne drew first blood in the 64th minute through Arnaud Nordin before an own-goal from their goalkeeper Jess Moulin eight minutes later levelled matters.

Nantes 0-1 Strasbourg

Strasbourg sojourn this campaign culminated in a narrow 1-0 win over Nantes at the Stade de la Beajoire.

South African international Lebo Mothiba gifted the visitors the win with a 60th minute penalty.

OGC Nice 2-0 AS Monaco

Monaco’s atrocious campaign ended in a 2-0 defeat away to Nice, with a 36th minute own-goal from Benoit Badiashile and a 67th minute penalty from Mickael le Bihan.
