Paris Saint-Germain have now spoken out on Real Madrid's bid to sign superstar Kylian Mbappe.
Earlier on Wednesday morning, it was reported that Los Blancos have had a €160 million (R2.8 billion) bid rejected by PSG for the 22-year-old's signature.
The French club's sporting director Leonardo has now spoken out on Real's approach for Mbappe, and had some strong words for the Spaniards.
"Kylian Mbappe wants to join Real Madrid and we will not hold him back. We said no to Madrid's first offer, but if our conditions are met, we'll see," the PSG chief said in an interview with RMC Sport.
"We made two important offers to Mbappe: one for the top players in the squad two months ago and one above these players very recently.
"We want to prove to him that he is an important player, at the centre of the project, but not above the project.
"It seems like a strategy to try to get a NO from us, to show that they [Real] have tried everything and to wait for a year to get Mbappe for free. Kylian always promised he wouldn't leave for free.
"Real Madrid official offer is very far from what we want for Kylian. Yes, it's around €160 million. It's less than what we paid for him in 2017.
"We have no plans to talk to Real again for Mbappe. The deadline is August 31 at midnight. This is how the transfer window is: we keep him and we extend.
"But we're not going to let him go for less than what we paid when we still owe Monaco money.
"We never opened the door to a departure of Kylian Mbappe. Never. People say that I want to sell and not Nasser [Al-Khelaifi, PSG president], but me or Nasser think the same thing. We are on the same point. But if a player wants to leave, it's on our terms.
"Real Madrid bid for Mbappe seems like a strategy to show they were trying every way to sign Kylian and that's it. They've been disrespectful, incorrect, illegal and unacceptable. We're not accepting €160 million. If he wants to go, it will be for our conditions."
