Zidane wants Messi to stay at Barca

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is hopeful that Saturday night's El Clasico will not be Lionel Messi's last for FC Barcelona.

Messi's contract with the Catalan giants comes to an end at the end of the season, which could see him leave the club on a free transfer.

Despite the Argentine tormenting Real in previous El Clasicos, Zidane wants the six-time Ballon d'Or winner to remain at the Camp Nou.

“I don’t want it to be Messi’s last Clásico, I want him to stay at Barcelona. He’s fine there. It’s good that he stays for La Liga," Zidane said, as per Marca.

“We know the player that Messi is. He may not be scoring goals, but we know the player that he is. We are going to play against Barcelona.

"It is true that we know the player that he is, but they are all very good – they have many great players.”
