Koeman's car 'attacked' by angry fans

FC Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman's car was surrounded by angry fans who reportedly became violent as he attempted to drive away from the Camp Nou following their ElClasico defeat to Real Madrid on Sunday.

With the Catalan giants having lost the first Clasico of the 2021/22 season 2-1, the result did not go down well with some of the home side's fans.

In a video that has gone viral, a number of supporters can be seen hitting the Dutch manager's car and shouting insults at him as he attempted to drive away from the stadium after the match.

Barcelona later released a statement unequivocally condemning the actions of some of their supporters.

"FC Barcelona publicly condemns the violent and disdainful acts that our manager experienced when leaving the Camp Nou," the statement, as published on the club's official Twitter account, read.

"The club will take security and disciplinary measures to ensure that such regrettable events do not happen again."

Following their loss to Los Blancos, the Blaugrana now find themselves languishing in the middle of the table, five points behind their biggest rivals, with the pressure continuing to increase for under-fire boss Koeman.

Despite seeing his Blaugrana lose to Real, though, the 58-year-old insisted in a post-match press conference that his side is improving.

"Of course, we have to demand that we win these games," Koeman said, per Barca Blaugranes.

"In the game today we have shown that we're not inferior to Madrid. But instead of going 1-0 up, we go 1-0 down and that has a massive effect on the match. But we have shown that, little by little, we're improving and we're closer to winning big games.

"We were good in the first half. We controlled the game well and we had a big chance to take the lead, but once they score the first, they can play their game in the second half.

"They played to their strengths, waiting and defending. And we did not have any big chances to level. You need to attack and take risks, but you know Madrid's strength in counter-attacking play."
