Former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti could return to the Spanish club after emerging as the favourite to replace Zinedine Zidane.
Los Blancos are currently without a manager after the Frenchman announced his resignation from the position last week, leaving club president Florentino Perez with a void to fill.
Former Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte was previously reported to have been in contention for the role, but it has now emerged that Ancelotti, who is currently contracted to Everton, is the new favourite to land the job.
According to Spanish publication Marca, talks have already begun between the Italian and Perez regarding the former AC Milan boss' return to Madrid.
These claims have been supported by journalist Fabrizio Romano who, on Tuesday, reported that Ancelotti's representatives were handling his exit from Everton before proceeding with formal negotiations with the LaLiga giants.
The 61-year-old previously served as Real's manager between 2013 and 2015, winning four major titles during his spell at the Santiago Bernabeu.
