Suarez 'wants' surprise return to ex-club

Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez is reportedly looking to return to his former club after falling down the pecking order in the Spanish capital.

The Uruguayan striker's future remains uncertain at Los Rojiblancos as he is contract come to a conclusion at the end of the current season.

Despite playing a key role in the club's LaLiga-title winning campaign last year, Suarez has been regular on the bench this season under Diego Simeone.

Spanish publication El Chiringuito have reported that the 35-year-old is keen on a return to his former club FC Barcelona on a free transfer.

The news does come as a surprise considering the way Suarez left the Camp Nou two years ago after claiming he felt betrayed after being deemed surplus to requirement when Ronald Koeman took over.

The report does add that the former Liverpool star has already been in contact with Blaugrana president Joan Laporta over a return and would be willing to lower his salary.
