Real star 'dropped' after Zidane argument

Real Madrid star Marcelo has been dropped by Zinedine Zidane after the duo reportedly had a falling-out in training.

Marcelo, 33, was omitted from Los Blancos' squad list ahead of their LaLiga clash against Granada on Thursday, and it has now been claimed that the Brazilian defender was dropped following an argument with Zidane.

According to Goal, the veteran left-back has been frustrated with the French coach's tactics and team selections this season, and his disgruntlement came to the fore during a training session earlier this week.

Marcelo and a number of other senior players are said to be unhappy with the methods deployed by Zidane and there is believed to be a consensus within the squad that the 2017 Best FIFA Men's Coach will leave the club at the end of the season.

After the reported argument, the former Fluminense star was left out of Real's latest matchday squad despite Ferland Mendy missing out through injury as well, meaning 19-year-old Miguel Gutierrez could be in line to make a rare start.

Marcelo is one of the most decorated players in Real's history, having made 527 appearances for the club and boasting no fewer than 22 major honours.
