The 19-year-old Dutch-born right-back joins the club for a fee of €21 million (R410 million) plus add-ons and has signed a five-year deal that will keep him at the Nou Camp until the end of the 20204/25 season.

Dest, whose deal includes a €400 million (R7.8 billion) buyout clause, becomes Barca's fifth signing of the season after the earlier arrivals of Miralem Pjanic, Pedri, Francisco Trincao and Matheus Fernandes.

The Almere-born defender made his debut for Ajax last year and ultimately made 38 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring twice.
