FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi could be allowed to leave the club on a free at the end of the 2019/20 season.
Since being promoted to the first-team in 2005, the club's all-time record goalscorer has renewed his contract on eight separate occasions.
And according to El Pais, in his latest contract signed in 2017, there's a clause that will allow him to walk away from the club at the end of the 2019/20 season.
Despite the option for the club captain, his teammate Gerard Pique says there's no concerns around the clause due to Messi's loyalty for the LaLiga champions.

"I already knew Messi is able to leave for free at the end of each season," Pique told Cadena Ser.
"But we all know the commitment Leo has to Barca and it doesn't worry me at all.
"He's earned the right to be able to choose what he does with his future after everything he's given the club."
Messi has scored 603 goals and registered 242 assists in 687 games for the Blaugrana since making his first team debut 14 years ago.
