FC Barcelona captain Lionel Messi believes the rivalry between himself and Cristiano Ronaldo will "remain forever".
Messi and Ronaldo are widely considered as two of the greatest footballers who have ever played the game and have set the benchmark for serial goalscorers this generation.
The Barcelona captain recently moved ahead of Ronaldo with a record sixth Ballon d'Or title after another incredible season in which his side lifted the LaLiga title.
While Ronaldo has lifted the honour five times and is showing no signs of slowing down his prolific form with Juventus, Messi looked back at the iconic rivalry they shared when he starred for Real Madrid.

"It was a special duel, and it will remain forever because it lasted many years and it is not easy to maintain certain levels for a long time," Messi told DAZN.
"Plus, the teams we played in were also very demanding, both Real Madrid and Barca, the two best in the world.
"Competing on an equal footing for so many years, I think it will remain forever. The sporting duel between us was very nice on a personal level.
"I think people had fun too, whether it was from Madrid or from Barca, or even only football fans in general."
