The Mexican-born starlet, who is also eligible to represent Spain and Argentina, entered the field of play as a late substitute for Iddrisu Mohammed, and in doing so, broke the record set by former Celta Vigo player Francisco Bao Rodriguez, also known as Sanson, in 1939.

Romero has been widely backed to follow in FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi's footsteps, having earned the nickname "the Mexican Messi", and even spent time on trial at Barca's famed La Masia academy in 2011.

The Catalan giants were unable to sign him at the time, however, due to a reported policy that prevents the club from signing U10 players from outside of the region.
