Real Madrid were unable to move top of LaLiga after playing to a goalless draw against CA Osasuna on Saturday evening.
Real welcomed back captain Sergio Ramos, while Eden Hazard started and Lucas Vazquez filled in for the suspended Dani Carvajal on a snowy evening in Pamplona.
Los Blancos started quietly in the first few minutes, as Osasuna made life difficult with a smart header from Oier forcing Thibaut Courtois to a close-range save.
Luka Modric looked to open up the host from the far side through a curling strike from an acute angle, but Sergio Herrera averted the threat to keep matters level on the half-hour mark.
Real made a lively start to the second half, as a surging ball to the near post from Vazquez put Herrera in a spot of bother before beating the effort away.
Marco Asensio was next to test their opposite number’s resolve on 48 minutes when he twisted in-field from out wide to fire in a left-footed shot which Herrera steered away.
Asensio had another go following the 55th minute after he collected a ball over the top from Carlos Casemiro to volley goal-wards from a tight angle, but found Herrera equal to the task.
Real did have the ball in the net after five minutes through Karim Benzema, who scrambled a loose ball on the goal-line into an unguarded net but it was disallowed for offside.
Fresh faces on the side of the title holders came 65 minutes in, as Federico Valverde filled in for Asensio with the balance of play firmly poised.
Los Blancos continued searching for the elusive opener with time running out, but the frustrations raged on thus it concluded goalless.
