Real Madrid are on the brink of clinching the LaLiga title following a 2-1 victory away to Granada on Monday evening.
Sergio Ramos returned from suspension, whilst Federico Valverde replaced Lucas Vazquez from the side that overcame Deportivo Alaves on Friday.
Real were in on goal with five minutes gone through Luka Modric, but Rui Silva managed to get down to parry the Croatian’s strike from the left-corner.
Los Blancos though had the breakthrough in fine fashion five minutes later when Ferland Mendy beat two defenders on the edge of the area to find the roof of the net.
Karim Benzema gave the hosts a second goal after getting ahead of Victor Diaz in the six-yard area before finding the top right corner six minutes later after a pass from Modric.
Thibaut Courtois denied the home side an opening when he palmed Domingos Duarte’s header to safety in the last ten minutes of the half following a free-kick from Diaz.
Granada turned to the substitutes bench right at the start of the second half, bringing on Antonio Puertas for the self-same Diaz, with Real unchanged.
The deficit was reduced five minutes into the second half when Darwin Machis fired through the legs of Courtois after Casemiro was caught losing possession near the area.
Real refreshed their stall with a double change 64 minutes gone, as Rodrygo and Marco Asensio entered for Valverde and Isco respectively.
Los Blancos were given two big scares in the final minutes, as a save from Courtois kept out Antonin’s half-volley whilst Ramos scooped Ramon Azeez’s effort off the line.
Zinedine Zidane’s side weren’t overwhelmed though but managed the remaining minutes to secure the win.
