FC Barcelona returned to second spot in LaLiga with a last-gasp 1-0 win over Real Valladolid on Monday evening.
The Blaugrana maintained the front trio of captain Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele that emphatically dispatched Real Sociedad last time out.
Valladolid were inches close to going ahead in the first ten minutes after a header inside the six-yard area from Kenan Kodro bounced off the crossbar and back into play.
Messi received his first chance to goal with a free-kick from outside the area 15 minutes in, but the talisman curled narrowly wide of the near corner of the opposition’s net.
Barcelona’s pressure play following the half-hour mark didn’t stop after a floating ball into the area from the left-side by Griezmann allocated Dembele, who headed over amidst a lurking Messi.
The away side lived dangerously in the final minute of the first half as a first-time shot from outside the area by Pedri led goalkeeper Jordi Masip to tip onto the face of the post.

A strong start to the second half from the Catalans had the visitors pinned in their own half however Oscar Plano soon flashed a clear opening at the other end narrowly wide.
It was Griezmann who went on to miss an inviting chance for the Catalans a little over the first ten minutes of the second stanza after he headed a loose ball from close-range wide.
Barcelona issued a triple substitution following the midway stage in the second half in Martin Braithwaite, Ronald Araujo and Francisco Trincao.
Pucelanos were dealt a blow with 12 minutes to go as Plano got a straight red card for a rash challenge from behind on Dembele.
This was pounced on by the Catalans in added time after Dembele drilled a first-time volley from the near side past Masip to see his side to six league wins in a row.
