Goals from Antoine Griezmann and Sergi Roberto guided FC Barcelona to a 2-1 win over Getafe at the Camp Nou on Saturday evening.
Arturo Vidal dropped to the bench with Arthur Melo returning as did Jordi Alba from the side that edged Real Betis last Sunday.
Lionel Messi had the chance to give Barca the lead after 15 minutes when he got on to a pass from Sergio Busquets, but his efforts to lob David Soria proved unsuccessful.
An injury to Alba, who just returned to side ended his outing following the midway stage with his understudy Junior Firpo introduced.
Getafe had the ball in the net later on after Allan Nyom side-footed home a rebound, but the Video Assistant Referee ruled an infringement in the build-up.
Barca were ahead when Messi’s first-time ball picked out Antoine Griezmann, who got goal-side to finish beyond the reach of Soria following the 33rd minute.
Firpo made a telling contribution six minutes later as he delivered an inch-perfect cross from the left to Sergi Roberto, who side-footed into an empty net.
Barca were out firing in the second half when a ball over the top from Messi looked to find Firpo, who couldn’t bring the delivery under perfect control.
The visitors made a double change inside the 52nd minute, bringing on Angel Rodriguez and Kenedy in attempting a response to falling behind.
This move paid dividends in the 66th minute as Angel got between Gerard Pique and Roberto for a side-foot volley beyond Ter Stegen.
Getafe pushed for the equaliser after getting a lifeline, but the Catalans maintained the pressure in the final quarter of the match.
Thus, the Spanish champions went on to claim victory to go level on points with table-topping and rivals Real Madrid, who hosts Celta Vigo on Sunday.
