Former Real Madrid star Jose Maria Gutierrez Hernandez, or Guti, has been sacked by Almeria just seven months after taking charge of the Spanish second division side.
Following his side's defeat to Alcorcon on Thursday evening, Guti was informed by Almeria that he had been relieved of his duties as the club's head coach, per AS.
The former Spain midfielder, who made more than 500 appearances for Los Blancos, had been in charge of the club since November and leaves with the team in third position, five points off the automatic promotion spots.
Guti oversaw 22 matches during his seven-month stay in south-east Spain, winning nine, drawing five and losing eight of his matches in charge.
It is claimed further that the 43-year-old's legal representatives are still finalising a settlement agreement with the club over the early termination of his contract, and that his replacement is yet to be named.
