Barca plot surprise loan deal


Having already signed Miralem Pjanic from Juventus, FC Barcelona's next piece of business could be a surprise loan deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur starlet Ryan Sessegnon.

Despite being one of England's most highly-rated young players, Sessegnon has endured a miserable debut campaign under Jose Mourinho at Spurs, making just 12 appearances across all competitions.

According to Mundo Deportivo journalist Miguel Rico, the 20-year-old could now be offered a way out of the north London club after it emerged that Barca are interested in his services as cover for first-choice fullback Jordi Alba. 

However, per the report, Barca would first need to offload Junior Firpo before making a deal to sign Sessegnon, who is contracted to last season's UEFA Champions League runners-up until 2025.

The England youth international joined Spurs from Fulham in a £25 million (R529 million) deal after excelling with the Cottagers, with whom he won an unprecedented five EFL Championship awards during the 2017/18 campaign.
