Barca 'make contact' with new manager

Following the news that FC Barcelona have parted ways with Ronald Koeman, the Catalan giants have reportedly already made contact with their potential new boss.

Barca's board made the decision to relieve the Dutch manager of his duties after the club's 1-0 loss to Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday left the side down in ninth position in LaLiga, with three defeats in their past five league matches.

The poor form on the pitch, along with the head coach's tense situation with the club president Joan Laporta, who reportedly frequently made it clear that Koeman was not his appointment, led to him being dismissed, according to BBC Sports

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now reported that the Blaugrana board are wasting no time in finding a replacement as they have set their sights on former Blaugrana midfielder Xavi Hernandez.

Per Romano, the 41-year-old was contacted by his former club "weeks ago" as talks continue about his availability and any potential exit clauses he has with Al-Sadd.

Xavi has earned many plaudits for his accomplishments with the Qatar-based side, who reached an impressive feat with their 3-1 win over Umm Salal on Tuesday.

This victory meant that Xavi's team has now gone 34 matches without a single defeat, according to Marca.
