FC Barcelona have reportedly been left with a fractured dressing room amid claims that Lionel Messi and several of the key figures wanted Neymar for the 2019/20 season.
Barcelona were believed to be frantic negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain in the final week of the transfer window but complications ensued when players needed to be included in the deal.
Having forked out over €200m in the off-season, which included the deals for Frenkie de Jong and Antoine Griezmann, the Blaugrana were unable to match the French sides reported asking price due to Financial Fair Play regulations.
However, with the likes of Messi, Luis Suarez and Gerrard Pique all said to be pressurising the club's heirarchy to bring the Brazil superstar back - Ivan Rakitic, Jean Clair Todibo and Ousmane Dembele were proposed as part of the deal.
According to Spanish newspaper, Sport, head coach Ernesto Valverde's willingness to part ways with the first-team players has caused divisions in the dressing room.
Along with Messi and Suarez insisting the club bring Neymar back instead of Griezmann, whom they are believed to have made a £31.5m loan from the Spanish reserve back to complete.
“The club has taken out a six-month unsecured loan for €35m and the remaining €85m [is funded by] anticipating payments yet to be received,” Josep Maria Bartomeu said following Griezmann unveiling.
The report further claimed the club's hierarchy made the move to display there is no longer any player power over key decisions in the transfer market.
However, it's been claimed talks will be proposed after the FIFA international break to clear the air between any disgruntled figures in the club's dressing room after the turbulent transfer window.
